Lindsey and Jake met for the first time at a party at Jake’s house and then reconnected years later in Minneapolis. They united again during an impromptu hiking and camping trip and then they fell in love and the rest is history. I started working with them about 6 months before their wedding. They were planning their wedding from out of state, so when they came into town we made the most of our time together. Their ceremony was held at St. Joan of Arc in Nashotah and they threw an elegant barn reception at the Cupola Barn in Oconomowoc. These two were a delight to work with and I am so in love with how their photos and video turned out!
FROM THE BRIDE + GROOM:
Tell us about the moment you saw your spouse for the first time on your wedding day.
Lindsey - It was a very emotional moment. I was happy that we didn’t see each other before walking down the aisle because it made the moment more special.
Jake - We did not do first look so the first time I saw Lindsey was walking down the aisle. It was a surreal moment of excitement and joy that resulted in some tears, but was my favorite moment from our wedding day.
What was the most fun detail of your wedding to plan?
Thinking of the small details to make our wedding unique and to make the day enjoyable for everyone we shared it with.
Were there any unique details at your wedding?
For dessert, instead of having a wedding cake, we had the PRESS Belgian Liege Waffle truck. We don't really like cake, so we wanted to do something different - they were a hit!
What did you find most surprising about planning your wedding?
There are a lot more little details to think about that we didn't necessarily consider when the process started.
What’s your number one piece of advice you have for couples just starting to plan their wedding?
Start early and figure out what's important to you as a couple and make sure those things get incorporated.
Which moments of your wedding were the most memorable for you?
Seeing each other for the first time, walking into the barn together and seeing how everything came together, and sitting down during dinner to take in the moment as we were surrounded by all of our family and friends. Overall, we had the most fun on the dance floor.
Would you recommend a wedding planner to other couples?
Yes absolutely. We were so happy that we had a wedding planner. Krista at Weddings With A Twist did an awesome job. We met with her multiple times during planning and she helped us think through ideas and how logistics were going to work on our wedding day. On our wedding day Krista made sure everything was organized and ran smoothly. Having her help allowed us to really just enjoy our wedding day!
