Boho Inspired Styled Shoot at Camp Dewan

This past year I have really enjoyed putting together styled shoots with some of my favorite local wedding professionals. I love creating different looks to showcase everyone’s talents. You can say it has become a little bit of an obsession. :)

This summer I got the chance to work with Katie Guth on another project, The Whimsical Wedding Giveaway (pictures and blog post coming soon!) and we really enjoyed working together. She and I came up with the idea to do a styled shoot at a camp, which turned out to be a lot of fun. Although we were both very busy with weddings in the fall, we knew we had to squeeze this in while the weather was still nice.

Finding a venue was a little tricky at first, but then we stumbled upon Camp Dewan. This was my first time visiting and they have a lot to offer. They have a nice barn onsite as an indoor venue (we decided not to use that because we wanted a very natural, outdoor look). If you want to make an entire weekend out of your wedding, you can camp out with your guests in the field!

They also have an adorable cabin, which can sleep a few and doubles as a bridal suite for getting ready.

Our models for the day were my sister, Kayla, and her husband, Matt. Dana Welch, my trusty hair stylist and makeups artist, came onsite to get Kayla ready.

Kayla wore a dress from Bucci’s Bridal, designed by Ti Adora. I loved the flowy skirt and the fact that the lace top was removable. She carried a stunning bouquet with burgundy dahlias, eucalyptus, succulents, and hydrangeas by Bank of Memories and Flowers.

Matt wore a gray tux from DuBois Formalwear, paired with a floral tie and a simple boutonniere.

The dining table was set up underneath the trees which we decorated with lanterns and string lights. One of my favorite details was the pink renaissance dinnerware from Relics Vintage Rentals, which paired really well with the lace linens from Windy Cindy Linen. The wooden centerpiece was the perfect look for our boho inspiration.

And the finishing touches were the stationery created by Coqui.

One of the ideas that Katie and I had was to use a teepee as a ceremony backdrop. We spent hours looking for a place in the area that would rent one, but we were unsuccessful. Neither of us could give up on the idea though. I started shopping online trying to find something affordable, and with no luck began looking for DIY projects. In the end, Katie, and her fiancé, Devin decided just to make one! Luckily they have experience in this area since they already make custom furniture for their other business, Sweet Tea Furnishings. We were both so happy that we were able to incorporate this into our shoot.

Of course we HAD to make use of the canoe! :)

You just can’t have a camp wedding without s’mores!  Cover It With Class provided the s’mores bar for us complete with all the fixings.

This is one of my favorites...aren't they beautiful?! :)

As the sun began to set, that is when the real magic started to happen....

As soon as it got dark, we started a bonfire, which was just the perfect way to end the night. It was nice to relax and stargaze for a few minutes after a busy day.
